Megumi Kitakawa (北川 めぐみ Kitagawa Megumi) is one of the main antagonist in this story. She is an amateur model and transfer student who was placed in Yamato's class. She acts sweet but in reality is aiming to steal Yamato from Mei.
Appearance
Megumi is a teenager girl with light brown and curly hair. She often makes her hair ponytail and has bangs to cover her forehead.
Megumi has a tall and slim body, as expected from a model. She is really watching her calories intake, as seen when she is having dinner with Yamato, by stating she prefer to eat cabbage instead of rice.
When she was young, she would covered her face with her hair so nobody could really see her face. Later she cut her hair shorts to proved that she is growing stronger and mature.
Personality
Because in the childhood she was mocked by her friends for being ugly and plain girl, she developed hatred to anyone in the inside, but she is using innocent girl face on the outside. Kai stated that she did not want anyone else to be good, that she have to be the center of attention.
She wanted Yamato to be her boyfriend so that anyone would be jealous to her for having hot boyfriend, although in the end she realised that she already falling in love with him. Later after she realised that Yamato won't look to her, she decided to be real by cutting her hair short.
History
When Megumi was younger, her classmates would mock her for her long legs and make remarks about how ugly and plain she was. She was always seen in the back of the classroom, and when somebody asked why, one of her friends stated it is because she is the poorest and ugliest of the class. Tired with the insults, one day, she tried to use her mom's make up in order to make herself beautiful, resulting her friends did not recognise her and starting to be her friend.
She decided to be an innocent, bright, and cheerful girl on the outside in order to make friends. She also using her 'kindness' for her own convenience.
Plot
Megumi was introduced to Yamato went she went to karaoke with her friends. She shows interest in him and asked him to be her girlfriend, but he instantly refused by saying he is already dating someone. Despite this fact, Megumi transferred to Toumei High School so she could be closer to him.
Megumi started to ask Yamato to be a model for one day, which Yamato quite hesitant at first. She asked Mei about it, and she surprisingly supporting it, although she did not like it in the inside. When Yamato did his photo shoot with her, people commented how good they are and they should become a real couple, resulting Mei to cried silently.
Realising it is not enough to separate them both, Megumi begins to spread rumors about Mei and Kai talking about sex to Yamato, resulting Yamato in shocked and avoiding Mei. Soon after this, Megumi started to inviting Yamato to her house to have dinner everyday, without realising that some people from her school watching them.
News about Yamato visited Megumi house spread quickly, leaving Mei in shocked and she started to trembling. Megumi even go far by saying that she loves Yamato in the interview of the magazine. Mei read the interview and decided to go home.
Megumi later asked her childhood friend, Momoko, to help her to isolate Mei even further, which she refused. She said that Momoko is a betrayer, and refused to talked to her. One day she read about people talk about negative things about her, which leave her depressed. Shortly after, she refused to talk to anyone.
Yamato received a call from the model agency, asking him about Megumi whereabouts. He looked worried and asking permission to Mei to go to her house, which she accepts immediately. In the halfway, he meets Momoko, and the two walking together to Megumi house. Shortly after, Megumi starts to crying when she sees the two in front of her house, and thus making Momoko reconciled with Megumi.
Later, Megumi joined a culture festival, where she become one of the candidate. If she wins this competition, she will be allowed to go for a date with Yamato, which she excited about. In the end, she wins the competition, and asked Mei if it is alright to go for a date with Yamato, which Mei replied it is okay. They went for a date, and realised that even though they are so close, Yamato was not looking at her. He keeps thinking about Mei. She decided to give up and call it a day, but before that she asked Yamato to take a picture with her.
Relationships
Megumi's interests in Yamato is simply based on image, having him as a lover was more convenient to her and she could use him to boost up her popularity. Megumi doesn't have any serious feelings for him beyond that, but she doesn't dislike him either. At one point, there might've been a chance she had a little crush on him, (hinted at how she blushed when asking him to continue visiting her house, or this could've just been a blush due to embarassment of asking a boy to go over your house).
Megumi hated her because of her relationship with Yamato. She did not understand why everyone is supporting Mei instead of her. In order to make her feeling lonely and without friends, she tried to make a distance between Mei and Yamato and the rest of her friends. She even spread rumours about Kai and Mei about sex to Yamato so he would leave her alone. Later, she competed with Mei in the culture festival.
Oikawa is Megumi's first friend since she transferred to Touimei High School, or as proclaimed by Megumi. She decided to befriend with her and Aiko, so Mei would be lonely and doesn't have friends anymore. She tried to 'bribe' Oikawa by giving her a lot of cosmetics and hang out with her, which she happily accepted. When Oikawa realised her 'true' plan, Oikawa decided maintains her relationship with her. Later she is seen putting back Megu's table and chair inside despite it is being moved by some other girls.
Takemura is the first person to realised that Megu is being fake to everyone, which makes Megumi angry. Takemura also the first person who confronts her by saying that she wants to compete with Mei over Yamato is because she wants to be the centre of attention. Other characters will like to tease Megumi about liking him. In the near possible future, depending on how the manga will take it, these two might get together.... just might.
Trivia
- Her grandmother is a farmer and sent her a lot of cabbages, which she prefer to eat instead of rice since it is low in calories.
- In the anime, she transferred first to Toumei High School, and meet Yamato at the staircase. Later, she asked Yamato to be her girlfriend in front of school.
